The Saga Continues
In an attempt to figure out why so many friends of Clif Bennet’s keep posting on this blog (which happened again today) I found out that this page pops up when you do a Google Search for the guys name.
I’m kinda tired of this story, but clearly there is plenty to talk about since Clif’s friends keep coming back and bringing this all up again after we have completely forgotten about it. So—as the title says, the saga continues.
BradG just posted a really polite and well written defense of Clif that is similar to all the others that have been posted here. You should read it though because he says he talked to some of the campers to see what happened.
The summary of it all is that the media blew things out of proportion (probably true, they do sensationalize), Clif is an awesome guy who never would do this kind of thing, and really what was happening at the camp was normal teenage boy behavior. I’m not kidding.
That is what he wrote.
If anybody knows how hormonal teenage boys are, especially when they are together in a situation where there are all boys, what really happened is honestly a normal occurrence. Poking someone in the rear end with things and other related activities are honestly common between boys this age, and are always done in a joking matter. There is no intent of assault involved in these actions. That is just plainly the way teenagers are, no harm is meant by either of these activities!
Yeah, let that sink in. Now another line from BradG who – I’m telling you deserves credit for not being a jerk in his comment so please don’t be a jerk back to him.
Sometimes kids will have somebody else lift them up with their arms crossed over their chests and then the kid being lifted breathes deeply in order to make himself pass out.
Really? That is crazy.
I think it would be rare to find a person who has not experienced normal teenage behavior such as this!!
Well … here is one of them. I wasn’t a teenager that long ago – and this NEVER happened to me. Let’s say the poking was not agressive at all, but some dude just sorta aiming a broom at my butt to annoy me and gently prodding (or me to another) ... never happened! Honestly – it just isn’t a common thing. And the passing out thing—that never happened either, at least that I’m aware of. And as lame as this may sound – I have nearly impeccable “camp” credentials to say I know what I’m talking about. To start off with, I hung out with all boys all the time – afterall I am an Eagle Scout and during scouting we’d go camping once a month.
Piling on to that, I used to work at an all boys camp myself, as a counselor at a boy scout camp on catalina island … and this definitely wasn’t normal.
I also used to run a leadership camp, I’m talking for four years here, for high school kids. And this wasn’t a common problem we ever had to deal with—in fact we NEVER had to deal with it.
Honestly, maybe this kind of thing is normal in whatever circle all these friends who keep posting here hang out in. Maybe that is why they are so shocked that … well, we are shocked. Honestly though BradG, it really isn’t normal.
I swear.
